The administration of Dong Nai Province in southern Viet Nam on Tuesday [25 Mar 2025] issued a directive calling for intensified disease prevention measures and a province-wide vaccination campaign for domestic animals, in response to 2 human deaths from rabies and outbreaks of African swine fever. Since the beginning of 2025, the province has recorded 2 outbreaks of African swine fever and 6 cases of rabies, including the 2 fatal cases in Long Thanh District.

To contain the spread of rabies, the provincial administration announced a mass vaccination campaign for dogs and cats from 30 Mar to 24 Apr 2025, funded through private sector sources. Local authorities have been tasked with implementing the campaign effectively by allocating sufficient resources and raising public awareness about infectious animal diseases.
狂犬病の蔓延を防ぐため、州政府は民間からの資金提供により、2025年3月30日から4月24日までイヌとネコを対象とした集団予防接種キャンペーンを実施すると発表した。地方自治体は、十分な資金を割り当てて、動物の感染症に関する国民の意識を高めることで、このキャンペーンを効果的に実施することが求められている。
Animal owners were encouraged to ensure their animals are fully vaccinated to create herd immunity and prevent potential economic losses. The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment will closely monitor livestock disease trends, particularly in high-risk or previously affected areas, to quickly detect and contain any new outbreaks.
動物の所有者は、家畜に十分なワクチン接種を行い、群れ全体に免疫力を与え、潜在的な経済的損失を防ぐよう指導された。州の農業・環境省は、特にリスクの高い地域や過去に被害を受けた地域において、家畜の疾病の動向を注意深く監視し、新たな発生を迅速に検知して封じ込めることにしている。
Officials will also launch the first round of 2025 livestock vaccinations in tandem with the rabies campaign, and inspection teams will be formed to oversee disease control efforts and vaccination quality across localities. The provincial Department of Health will coordinate with veterinary services to track rabies vaccine recipients and jointly investigate suspected cases, ensuring timely and effective public health responses.
